This section will outline what a Lighting Designer's process is during the pre-production period, from the first moment that you read the script, to when you move to the theatre for Focus and Technical Rehearsals. While every production is at least a little bit unique, if you're able to develop a cohesive design process for yourself, you will usually be able to adapt your process to each different company and production that you experience.
